Hello, I'm

Mehmet Koruturk

M.S. student in Electrical Engineering at Virginia Tech, advised by Prof. Ming Jin. I work on reinforcement learning for sustainable and resilient power systems.

I'm interested in how we can build energy-management agents that are not only efficient but also safe, interpretable, and able to continually adapt as grid conditions, uncertainty, and disturbances evolve — so that learning-based control can be trusted in real, mission-critical infrastructure.

Research

My work sits at the intersection of reinforcement learning, optimization, and power systems. Below are the directions I am actively exploring as part of my M.S. thesis.

RL · Benchmarking

Benchmarking RL for Power Systems

Building benchmarking simulations to evaluate RL algorithms in power-system environments with operational constraints, uncertainty, and non-stationary dynamics. Toward a standardized testbed: SustainRL-Bench.
